Challenges Encountered

Quadient was challenged with finding ways to manage returns without giving out their courier account numbers for customer returns. The other problem was having to content with courier rates that were inaccurate in the third-party software they were using for years. The rate updates were costly and very infrequent leading to discrepancies in the freight quotes provided and also making it more difficult to audit courier invoices.

Strategies Employed

Quadient gave Pre-authorized global Customer Returns with 2Ship and generated returns labels that were easily emailed automatically via 2Ship. Quoting shipping costs were accurate since 2Ship pulls rates in real time from courier sites

Outcome

Quadient Canada now uses 2Ship to manage return shipments from all Quadient Dealers and Quadient Canada clients to control costs of returns. Quadient Canada has achieved a 10% savings on return shipping costs. There were no more costly courier rate uploads saving thousands more every year since 2Ship connects in real time with the courier websites. Lastly, the Neopost Distribution manager can now run a report in confidence and verify invoice accuracy from carriers and easily capture any discrepancies.

The Consolidation Process at 2Ship
  1. Order Collection: Orders are gathered from multiple sources, whether from an e-commerce platform, warehouse, or physical locations.
  2. Individual Packaging: Each order is individually packed and labeled with customer details and relevant tracking information.
  3. Grouping into a Master Shipment: Orders bound for similar destinations are grouped together into a larger “master” shipment, reducing the number of parcels sent separately.
  4. Documentation & Customs Preparation: Proper customs documentation (e.g., commercial invoices, customs declarations) is prepared for the entire master shipment, simplifying the clearance process.
  5. Shipping to Destination: The consolidated master shipment is sent via a chosen freight service, benefiting from bulk shipping rates.

Final Distribution: Once the master shipment reaches its destination, orders are separated and dispatched to individual customers or distribution centers.
